The document that you will find in this link https://help.trap.nz/books/trapnz-comprehensive-user-guide/page/lora-gateway-configuration describes how to take an off shelf gateway device and set it up to provide the LoRaWAN network coverage to nearby sensor devices. The device used in the document as an example is a Mikrotik wAP LR9 kit.

The setup uses the gateways built in web interface, the power users will want to use Mikrotik’s free Winbox configuration tool, an example config is provided. Find how to set your gateway up here – https://help.trap.nz/books/trapnz-comprehensive-user-guide/page/lora-gateway-configuration

After you have set up the gateway it can then be added to the Things Network, you will have to create an account and then register the gateway. After a few minutes the gateway should be connected and you will be able to set the location settings so the gateway will be visible to other users.
