Network Coverage

Our sensors use LoRaWAN networks for communication back to the internet. This is not WiFi and not cell coverage!
You can set up your own ‘gateway’ antenna, or use existing LoRaWAN coverage in your area.

If you have found that your sensor has weak signal strength (troubleshooting link) it could be due to there being an issue with the LoRa network coverage in your area.

You can visit the TTN Mapper website in order to see the coverage and gateways in your area.

TTN Mapper Website

By selecting Heatmap at the top of the page you are able to see the coverage throughout the country, you can move the map and zoom in to where you want to look.

Gateways

The small blue icons (or red if the gateway is offline) scattered around the map show the location of gateways. If you click on these you can see information about the Gateway.

If you select Beams at the top of the page it will take you to a different kind of map which shows the connection paths between gateways and IoT devices in the area such as our trap sensors.

If you don’t have a LoRaWAN gateway in your area, we recommend installing one. If installing your own this requires internet access either via a sim card for cell 4G connectivity, or a link to internet at a house or business.

We can assist you with supply and configuration of gateways, just get in touch via our contact page or call 09 232 8282.
